New book release, Nursing Dr. Miller
When and why did you begin writing?

I have been a writer all of my life, but began writing to publish to the public in 2008. I had a story in my head I wanted to tell and decided to try and put it on paper.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Once I actually held my printed book in my hand.
What inspired you to write your first book?

I was encouraged by personal experiences as a mental health nurse.
Do you have a specific writing style?

I don’t believe that I do. My genre leans toward romance and erotica.
How did you come up with the title?

My character sketches pushed me toward the title, “This Side of Crazy.” My main character’s life was just a mess.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

My hope is that the reader will see that no matter what your going through you have to believe in yourself and do what is best for you even when everyone is against you.
How much of the book is realistic?

Well, the characters in This Side of Crazy are all loosely based on me and several of my girlfriends.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Yes, all of my stories are based on my observations in life or experiences.
What books have most influenced your life most?

I loved the book Whoreson by Donald Goines, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and Invisible Life by E. Lynn Harris.
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Zane, I love that she wrote what was in her heart even when it may not always be the most popular genre.
What book are you reading now?

I just finished Adonis by Daniel Harshaw.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Daniel Harshaw. I like his writing style and his stories are gritty.

What are your current projects?

I am working on the second and third installments of Nursing Dr. Miller and The sequel to This Side of Crazy.
Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.

My bowling league. They came in mass for my first book signing and they also purchased my books. I love Local 600 Mixed League.
Do you see writing as a career?

Yes. Every decision I make is an effort to create success so that I can write to pay the bills.
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

No, I am very happy with this one. I feel I am growing as an author and getting better and Nursing Dr. Miller is an example of that growth.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?

It began in elementary school with writing short stories.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

My biggest challenge is making time to write and then stopping once I start.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

This is hard to answer. I love several authors, but if I had to decided I would say Donald Goines.
Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

In the beginning no, but lately I have been blessed with various opportunities  that have required me to travel to get the word out about my work.
Who designed the covers?

Nursing Dr. Miller was designed by Dynasty’s Cover Me at www.dynastyscoverme.com
What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part of writing any book for me is editing.
Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?

I realized that writing is therapeutic for me. When I need to escape, writing is the way for me.
Do you have any advice for other writers?

Just start writing and keep on writing.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you all for reading my books and keep the feedback coming, it can only make my future books better.
