Flipp the Script Productions is proud to bring back for a second year for Black History Month “Why Am I Black? God Must Don’t Like Me…” The Stage Play to YMCA Boll Family Theater in Beautiful Downtown Detroit. Why Am I Black? God Must Don’t Like Me…” is about a young lady named Lisa. Your Skin color shouldn’t dictate who you are in life but sometimes the reality sets in and you realize that it does. Lisa is educated and has everything going on for her but one thing…She is not happy with the skin she was born in. Sometimes the seed that you plant in your child when they’re in the womb can instead of blooming into a flower; it can grow weeds and suck the life out of your hopes and dreams. Go through the journey with Lisa to find the answer to “Why Am I Black?” “Death and Life Are In The Power Of The Tongue…” – Proverbs 18:21a
The topic of colorism has been talked about by Oprah Winfrey and Iyanla Vanzant on the OWN Channel and also the topic was portrayed as a documentary in the movie “Dark Girls”.
This play is for all ages and we’re encouraging young people to come out.
The performance will take place at YMCA Boll Family Theater 1401 Broadway, Detroit MI 48226 in Beautiful Downtown Detroit. All shows are $20.00 except the Saturday 3pm Matinee and the price is $15.00. Space is limited to 150 seats per show. Don’t miss out in seeing a controversial topic come to light about light-skin and dark-skin. For more information please call Raquel Draper at 313-312-4288 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
