Writers’ Group, Writing Contest, Conference Registration Opens

The Freelance Marketplace Writers’ Group meets this Tuesday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Barnes & Noble Bookstore. We meet the third Tuesday of the month to discuss the Business of Writing. Free and open to New, Working, and Published Writers, Photographers, and Illustrators. Our meeting location could be anywhere in the store – look for us in the events area, the back end of the used book department, or anywhere in between. One of our members, Walerian Domanski, has been awarded a Kresge Art Fellowship for his short stories – he will take a few moments to discuss the application process – he was one of 18 people to receive a $25,000 fellowship in Literary or Visual arts.

The Rochester Writers’ Summer writing contest is NOW accepting submissions. Low Entry Fee – Big Fun – Cash Prizes.

Early Bird Registration is NOW open for the 8th Annual Rochester Writers’ Conference. The Story Within is the theme this year. Michigan author, Bonnie Jo Campbell, will keynote the October 17 Rochester Writers’ Conference. Current Springfed Arts’ members will enjoy a discount this year. If you’re a member in good standing with SpringFed Arts, look for the Special Registration Page on the conference website.

Do you use Meetup? Rochester Writers now has a Profile Page on Meetup.
