GAYLORD — Lori Rader-Day, renowned crime writer will be at Otsego County Library, 700 S. Otsego Ave., at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10. Her newest novel, “Under a Dark Sky,” is set in the Headlands International Dark Sky Park in Emmet County and was recently nominated for the prestigious Edgar award. In it, a widow travels to the park to commemorate her wedding anniversary and unwittingly crashes a college reunion that turns murderous. This gothic mystery set in the Northern Michigan wilderness keeps the reader pondering the age old question, “How well can you ever know another person?”

Rader-Day is traveling from Chicago to discuss her book and how she came to write it. Originally from Indiana, she grew up frequenting local libraries, reading all the Beverly Cleary, Judy Blume, and Lois Duncan she could get her hands on. She studied journalism at Ball State University but eventually gave in to her dream and studied creative writing at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
